چکیده

Aedes aegypti L. is the mosquito vector of yellow fever, dengue, zika, and chikungunya viruses. The prevention control such diseases usually rely on use chemicals, that can cause harm to human health environment. Vegetable oils with larvicidal activity are used as an alternative tool this insect. This study aimed evaluate vegetable from Caryocar coriaceum, Mauritia fIexuosa, Carapa guianensis, Copaifera langsdorffii, Ricinus communis Cocos nucifera against A. larvae. experiment was divided into two bioassays. In first, a completely randomized design seven treatments (six at 500 ppm one four replications). number dead larvae evaluated 24, 48, 72, 96, 120 h after exposure. second bioassay, most efficient first bioassay (C. coriaceum M. flexuosa) were concentrations 0, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 ppm, replications. according bioassay. All had third instar stage aegypti, greater efficiency C. flexuosa best efficacy in control. LD10, LD50, LD90 oil recommended for controlling 234, 648, 1794 respectively.

Chemical composition and larvicidal activity against Aedes aegypti larvae of essential oils from four Guarea species.

The essential oils of four Guarea species collected at Manaus (Amazonas, Brazil) were obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC-MS. Except for one diterpene detected, the compounds identified in the essential oils were hydrocarbons and oxygenated sesquiterpenes. The major sesquiterpenes were alpha-santalene (26.26%) and alpha-copaene (14.61%) from G. convergens branches; caryophyllene ep...

Limonoids as larvicidal components against mosquito larvae (Aedes aegypti Linn.).

The study focussed on four limonoids (calodendrolide, harrisonin, pedonin and pyroangolensolide) as larvicidal components against mosquito 2nd instar larvae of the species Aedes aegypti Linn. senso stricto. Since pyroangolensolide is close to calodendrolide in structure, it was synthesized through reduction of calodendrolide with chromium(II) chloride in acetone. Harrisonin and pedonin were ext...

Citrus Seed Oils Efficacy against Larvae of Aedes aegypti

Background Dengue fever is a serious public health issue in Pakistan for many years. Globally plants have been reported to contain compounds with insecticidal properties. These properties have been demonstrated more recently on the larval stages of mosquitoes. Therefore, Citrus cultivar seeds were evaluated for larvicidal potential against the primary dengue vector Aedes aegypti. Methods Extr...

Larvicidal activity of essential oils from Brazilian plants against Aedes aegypti L.

Aedes aegypti L. is the major vector of dengue fever, an endemic disease in Brazil. In an effort to find effective and affordable ways to control this mosquito, the larvicidal activities of essential oils from nine plants widely found in the Northeast of Brazil were analyzed by measurement of their LC50. The essential oils were extracted by steam distillation and their chemical composition dete...
